Biking--The best place to rent bikes in Berlin is at Fahradstation, GmbH, an outfit that maintains hundreds of bicycles and at least two locations within central Berlin. Two of their most central locations include Rosenthalerstrasse 40-41 (tel. 030/28-38-48-48; S-Bahn: Hackescher Markt), in Hackescher Höfe, and Bergmannstrasse 9 (tel. 030/921-5156; U-Bahn: Platz de Luftbrücke), in Kreuzberg. Rentals cost 20 DM (10€, $10) per day or 69 DM (35€, $35) per week, plus a one-time rental fee of 5 DM (2.55€, $2.50). The city maintains a labyrinth of bike paths, marked by red bricks on the walkways, through the central core of Berlin and in its parks, especially the Tiergarten. The best places for biking are the Tiergarten in central Berlin, and farther afield in the Grunewald Forest (S-Bahn: Grunewald).
